Staff complete NVQ qualifications
Congratulations to Carl Emery, on successfully completing his Health and Social Care (Children & Young People) Level 3 NVQ and to Ali Griffiths for completing her Business and Administration Level 3 NVQ.

Bedspace Accreditations
We are very pleased to have recently achieved ‘Accreditation of Providers’ status for Housing Related Support in the North West Region. This accreditation will sit along side our GMAC (Greater Merseyside Authorities and Cheshire) Group Accreditation for semi independent services.

1999

  • Bedspace is founded to provide accommodation and support for Single Adult Asylum Seekers. The initial service provides accommodation on a full board basis, generally in hotels in the borough of Blackpool. 

2000

  • Moving to a focus on long-term placements, Bedspace begins to provide accommodation and support in a home style, community-based environment.
  • Manchester office opens.

2001

  • In addition to Single Adult Asylum Seekers referrals for Family Groups and Unaccompanied Asylum Seeking Children (between 16 and 18 years) are accepted. 
  • Liverpool office opens.

2002

  • Emergency Accommodation is included as part of our service provision for Single Adult’s and Family Groups only.  
  • Bedspace awarded a contract by Kent County Council for the support of Unaccompanied Minors.

2003

  • Bedspace accepts its first Special Needs placements and developed care packages to support such a diversity of needs (medical issues/mental health issues).
  • Relocate to larger offices in Liverpool.

2004

  • Asked by Placing Authorities to provide a provision for Young Persons Leaving Care.
  • The Bedspace Leaving Care Programme is developed and implemented.

2005

  • Bedspace receives its first Leaving Care Placements at our new offices in Sefton.
  • Second Liverpool office opens.

2006

  • Bedspace awarded a contract by Liverpool City Council for the Support of Unaccompanied Minors.  

2007

  • Bedspace receives its first Youth Offending Service Placements in the North West. 
  • GMAC (Greater Merseyside Authorities & Cheshire) accredited.
  • Bedspace partnered representatives from 21 Local Authorities on the Placements North West Project (Leaving Care), helping to develop regional standards.

2008

  • Bedspace relocates to larger offices in Manchester and Liverpool and opens a further office in Preston to meet demand for our Leaving Care Services in Lancashire.  

2009

  • Awarded two Local Authority Contracts for the provision of ‘Support of Care Leavers’. Joined Salford’s; Supporting People’s Framework for the provision of Housing related Support. 
  • Our Manchester office expands its Leaving Care Team provision and the company continues to work with Placements Northwest.
  • Bedspace receives a Certificate Of Commitment from Investors in People, detailing our commitment to work toward Investors In People status.
